As a reminder, Tuesday, January 25, is a workday for all employees, even though students will not be in attendance. The January 25 workday is one of the changes to the 2021-22 School Year Calendar approved by the school board at their meeting on November 11. On this day, staff will attend professional development and training. Please see your supervisor for more information.

You’re invited! Join our Superintendent, Matthew Haas, in an 8-week virtual book study geared toward instructional leaders. The study group will meet virtually every two weeks beginning January 6, 2022, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Our group will read and study Breakthrough Leadership, by Blankstein and Newsome, and participants will expand their repertoire of strategies for meeting students where they are and providing them with the right support for success. December 6-12 is Computer Science Education Week! Celebrate by participating in Hour of Code! Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code,” to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with one-hour coding activities, but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Continue reading

ACPS Educators: The Department of Instruction and Content Advisory Teams have identified projects that the division will develop in order to advance our curriculum, assessment and instruction in alignment with the Strategic Plan. The range of projects is diverse, from drafting curriculum frameworks to developing assessments to vetting potential curricular resources.

Illuminate Data Entry for the First Quarter of 2021-22

Elementary Teachers: Some questions have arisen regarding what specific data should be entered into Illuminate for the first quarter. The Illuminate Requirements document highlights by grade level which assessments are required to be entered. We are requesting that all data be entered no later than Friday, November 12.

In alignment with our strategic plan, ACPS will develop and implement a guaranteed viable curriculum. Registration is ongoing for Making Connections: Learning for All, which will be held this Friday, October 29. Sessions are filling up fast and we have added seats to our most popular sessions.

Registration is now open for Making Connections: Learning for All, which will be held Friday, October 29.
