Revised 2021-22 Calendar Adds Teacher Workdays; No Effect on Pay for 10- and 11-Month Non-Exempt Employees

updated calendar

Yesterday evening, the school board approved changes to this year’s school calendar in response to the impact the pandemic has had on employee workload. Five full teacher workdays were added to the calendar, including two days previously on the calendar as half-days. Also, two days originally designated as half-days for students were changed to full days of instruction. The revised 2021-22 School Year Calendar includes the following changes:

  • Tuesday, January 25, is now a full Teacher Workday (no school for students).
  • Wednesday, February 16, is now a full day of instruction for students (instead of a half-day).
  • Friday, February 18, is now a non-student day, with the morning reserved for Division PLC meetings and the afternoon reserved for a Teacher Workday.
  • Friday, March 18, is now a full Teacher Workday (no school for students).
  • Wednesday, April 20, is now a full day of instruction for students (instead of a half-day).
  • Friday, April 22, is now a non-student day, with the morning reserved for Division PLC meetings and the afternoon reserved for a Teacher Workday.
  • Friday, May 20, is now a full Teacher Workday (no school for students).

These changes do not affect the division’s ability to meet the state’s requirement that all school divisions provide a minimum of 180 instructional days or 990 instructional hours each school year. However, if inclement weather causes an unusual number of school closures this winter, one or more teacher workdays in the spring may be converted to instructional days.

A note for 10- and 11-month non-exempt employees: Your pay will not be impacted by these additional non-student days. On each of the five teacher workdays, you will participate in professional development and training programs. Your supervisor will provide you with specific assignments.

The revised calendar, in English and Spanish, is now available on the division’s Calendars page.
