The Charlottesville Tom Sox are offering all Albemarle County Public Schools educators free admission to their home game on Thursday June 18, at 7 p.m. at Charlottesville High School. Just bring your Employee ID to the ballpark and get in free! Additional tickets may be purchased for $2. Also, 5% of all concession sales will be donated to Charlottesville High School.

The Tom Sox are passionate about giving back to the community around us, and we hope you can come out June 18 to enjoy a fun family night and watch the inaugural season of the Tom Sox!

P. Buckley Moss Foundation Offering Teacher Art Grants up to $1,000 – Apply by September 30

Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education has Teacher Art Grants available up to $1,000 to be awarded in 2015 to educators who need assistance to further their 2016-2017 program goals. Applications will be considered for projects that integrate the arts into educational programs serving children in pre-K through grade 12, including students who learn differently. The purpose for this grant is to aid and support teachers who wish to establish or maintain an effective learning tool using the visual arts within the school day. Application packets will be accepted July 1 – September 30, 2015, for the 2016-2017 school year.

Chemistry LessonElementary teachers are invited to register for a one-day workshop entitled Inquiry-based Chemistry Education for K-5 Teachers and Students to take place Friday, June 26, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the University of Virginia (UVa). Instructors will include chemistry faculty and graduate students associated with Chemistry LEAD, UVa’s student-based chemistry outreach group that has been sharing science with K-12 students through inquiry-based lessons and demonstrations since 2009.
