Blackboard End-of-Year Recommendations and Annual Management Plan

BlackboardAs the end of the school year draws near, here are a few suggestions and resources to assist you with backing up your Blackboard classes and transitioning your current class content and materials to new classes for next school year. Also, please review the Annual Blackboard Management Plan, which has been updated with important information, deadlines, and action items for next year.

  1. Run the Export process to create a backup of any class(es) you may need again in the future. Using the Export option to backup your Bb classes is beneficial in case you delete something by accident and need to restore it, or if you are teaching a class now that you may teach again at any point in the future. These exported packages can be brought back into a Blackboard class any time. Note: This is not the recommended method for transitioning content and materials from current classes to classes you are teaching next school year.
  2. Use the Class Copy process to move content and materials from your current Blackboard classes to next year’s classes when they become available. The ability to request Blackboard classes for next school year will become available in early August. You will have a reasonable window of time next school year during which your new classes will be available as well as your classes from the 2014-15 school year. Run the Class Copy process during this window to transition all of your content and materials.
  3. Please keep in mind that you should have a practice class available in Blackboard. Some educators use this as a holding tank for class content and materials and as a place to design new ways of setting up their classes.
