Crozet Trails Crew 7th Annual 5K Trail Race – October 8

Crozet Trails CrewOn Saturday, October 8, 2016, the Crozet Trails Crew will hold their annual 5K Trail Race. You’re invited to join the fun! Registration ($20 online or $25 in person) includes race admission, a race t-shirt, and entrance into the Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival, which is held right after the race. Race proceeds benefit the Crozet Trails Crew, a grassroots community organization whose mission is to connect Crozet and Western Albemarle with trails and greenways.

Are you interested in learning how fire rescue uses your tax dollars or what emergency responders do while they’re not responding to an incident? If your curiosity is piqued, you should consider enrolling in Albemarle County’s 2016 Citizen Fire & Rescue Academy.

Drop-off locations have been established throughout the County to collect supplies. Items will be collected through Thursday, July 7, at which time members from the squad will deliver the aids to West Virginia to be distributed.

Albemarle County Beaches Will Open for Memorial Day Weekend

Walnut CreekLocal residents can rediscover affordable family fun at Albemarle County’s three swimming beaches this summer. On Saturday, May 28, swimming beaches at Chris Greene, Walnut Creek, and Mint Springs open for the three-day holiday weekend. Beaches are open daily from Memorial Day Weekend thru Labor Day Weekend, except when Albemarle County Schools are in session. This year, swimming will be available daily beginning on Wednesday, June 8.

Rt. 29/Rio Road Project: New Traffic Patterns Begin May 22

Route 29 SolutionsConstruction on the Rio Road grade-separated intersection will shift into high gear at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 22, and motorists will see major traffic pattern changes that will affect travel through the project during the summer. Detours will be posted. This phase of work will be completed by September 2, 2016.
