Update on Classification Review of Teaching Assistants

Teaching AssistantAs part of our Total Compensation Strategy, Human Resources conducts comprehensive classification reviews of all departments and/or work groups on an ongoing basis. Our objective is to ensure that all School Division and Local Government positions are correctly classified and that all employees are appropriately compensated for the work they perform. Over the last year, we have conducted classification reviews of a number of departments, to include Building Services and General Services. Currently, we are conducting a classification review of Teaching Assistant (and similarly classified) positions.

The first phase of the review process was to complete the Position Analysis Questionnaires (PAQs); this has been accomplished! The second phase of the review process includes the opportunity for employees to meet with Human Resources staff to discuss the job responsibilities they outlined in their Position Analysis Questionnaires (PAQs). These meetings will be scheduled at the employee’s respective school for 30 minutes each; the available dates and times for schools in each feeder pattern are presented below.

Teaching Assistants, Computer Lab Assistants, Chorus Accompanists, In-School Suspension Assistants, and Library Media Assistants who are interested in meeting with the Human Resources staff should contact Alicia Roberts, Program Manager for Compensation & Rewards, no later than Tuesday, May 27, 2014 to schedule a time. Alicia can be reached at IP phone extension 73017 or by email at aroberts3@albemarle.org.

Employees who completed the PAQ in groups may schedule a joint meeting. Employees at schools that reside in spilt feeder patterns can select from either set of dates. Human Resources will also attempt to schedule phone meetings for those who cannot meet on these dates.
