Clocking In & Out Protocol for Non-Exempt Employees

Human Resources has received several questions recently regarding time recording protocol for non-exempt staff. Please see the following reminders:

  • Non-exempt employees are expected to clock in and out from their designated work locations at the start and end of their assigned shifts.
  • If an employee is working at more than one location during their shift, the employee is expected to clock in and out from their designated work locations as appropriate.
  • If an employee is working from home, the employee is expected to clock in and out from home at the start and end of their shift. (Prior supervisor approval is required for remote work.)
  • Breaks greater than 20 minutes are unpaid and employees are expected to clock out as appropriate.
  • Employees and supervisors are expected to carefully review timecards to ensure that time worked and leave usage are accurately reflected prior to approval.
  • Clocking in or out at locations other than the assigned work location is a violation of School Board Policy GBC, Standards of Conduct.

Please contact HR with any questions or concerns.
