Summer Jefferson Symposium, June 19-22

Summer Jefferson SymposiumThe University of Virginia’s Lifetime Learning Program presents an inspiring, thought-provoking exploration of Thomas Jefferson’s Family, Friends and Foes, June 19-22, 2014! This four-day extended learning experience will include on-grounds housing, expert speakers on Jefferson, all meals, and an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Thomas Jefferson.

Participants will gain an intimate account of individuals Jefferson considered close family, friends and confidants, and those with whom he didn’t see eye to eye. We will visit the historic Montpelier where James Madison, Father of the Constitution and friend to Thomas Jefferson, lived. While on that side of the mountain, we will sample some of the superior vintage of Barboursville Vineyards and take in the beauty still surrounding the now ruins of the Governor Barbour’s mansion designed by Thomas Jefferson. Dinner will be prepared by an award winning chef at one of the finest Italian dining establishments, Palladio Restaurant, overlooking the vineyards at Barboursville.
