Southland Dairy FarmersThe Southwest Dairy Museum, Inc., through Southland Dairy Farmers, a local promotional and educational organization funded entirely by local dairy farmer producers in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia through the national Dairy Checkoff Program, is proud to sponsor the Mobile Dairy Classroom. The Mobile Dairy Classroom is a part of a dynamic agricultural and nutritional education program. The 32-foot traveling classroom features a fully operational milking parlor and carries a live milk cow to schools throughout the state of Virginia. Funding requests are value statements and, especially at this time, our values compel us to make equal the learning experiences we offer to all students and to have them leave us fully prepared to realize their highest potential for lifelong success. This means that the goals before us are to eliminate the predictive impact that race, class, gender, and special capacities have on student success; to increase career readiness skills for all students; and to support the professionals who will deliver these results. Teacher Transfer Requests for 2018-2019

TeacherTeacher Transfer Requests are now open to all tenured teachers desiring consideration for new assignments for the 2018-2019 school year. Teachers who are on a Performance Improvement Plan or who will be on an active improvement plan for the upcoming school year are not eligible to apply for a transfer. All other teachers are welcome to apply for jobs online as vacancies become available.

The deadline to submit the Transfer Request Form is February 28, 2018; however, a tenured teacher may apply for a transfer through June 15, 2018. Continue reading

Time & Attendance System: Project Update #1

Time and Attendance ManagementSince the last Time & Attendance System communication on August 30, a cross-divisional team has worked to align our policies and gain employee input for design and development of the system. You may begin noticing the installation of time clocks in some building locations. These clocks will not be operational until employee training begins on the new Time & Attendance System. The testing phase of the system is scheduled to begin this spring, with implementation beginning in July.

February 19 – Now a Make-up Day!

February 19School will be in session on Monday, February 19, to make up for the closure on January 8.

Important Note: February 19 will serve as the only inclement weather make-up day for the 2017-18 school year. Remaining days missed due to inclement weather will be made up with hours accumulated by the schools in excess of the minimum 990 hours required by the standards of accreditation.
