Put This on Your CalendarThe Albemarle County Student Advisory Council, in partnership with Albemarle County Public Schools, has kicked off the annual We Notice Program! Students, parents, and employees are invited to recognize a teacher or staff member whose work should be celebrated. Any ACPS employee (teacher, office associate, building services team member, teaching assistant, cafeteria worker, school nurse, bus driver) is eligible for recognition, but nominations must be received by March 28. Situational Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) Event on March 30

ACPD PatchIn light of tragic events in our community, many leaders, stakeholders and advocates came together, agreeing that we needed additional education regarding situational awareness, personal safety and domestic violence. After seeing the success of the AWARE (Always Watch and Recognize (your) Environment) event for students at Monticello High School, we wanted to expand on the topic and open up the conversation to everyone in our community. The next event focused on safety is called SAFE, Situational Awareness for Everyone. Join the Albemarle County Police Department for this special event on Monday, March 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Monticello High School. Read the news release »

Last Day of School & Office Closures Due to Inclement Weather

Last Day of School 2015The last day of the 2014-15 school year for students will be Tuesday, June 9, 2015. The last work day for teachers will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015. View an update on where we stand with inclement weather make-up days.

ChemFest is March 28: Free Science Demonstrations & Activities for Kids

ChemFest 2015Presented by Alpha Chi Sigma, the University of Virginia’s professional chemistry fraternity, ChemFest celebrates chemistry through fun and engaging experiments that aim to get students interested in science. A chemistry magic show also will be held to demonstrate the most impressive and exciting experiments! This free event is geared toward elementary and middle school students, but older students and adults will enjoy it as well.
