UVA Curry School of EducationThe Walter N. Ridley Distinguished Lecture at the University of Virginia is hosting a free lecture on Monday, March 23, at 2 p.m. Alfredo J. Artilles, Ph.D., will present Culture in Disability in the Global Era: Interdisciplinary Notes for New Research Programs.

Presentation Description: “I critique in this lecture the ways in which the construct of culture has been theorized and used in disability research. I argue researchers must theorize this construct from interdisciplinary perspectives to understand the complex roles culture plays in human activities. I outline a framework that accounts for the individual, interpersonal, and institutional dimensions of culture that can inform future research programs.”
