Art ProgramsThinking ahead to next year? Each Arts, Culture & Design in Schools Grant from Target is $2,000. Grant applications will be accepted through 1 p.m. EDT on April 30. Apply now!

Target funds in-school arts programs that enhance students’ classroom curricula by bringing the arts and cultural experiences to schools, such as in-school performances, artist-in-residency programs, and workshops in schools. Programs must take place between September 2014 and August 2015.

2014 STEM Essay Contest – Application Deadline: March 30

VA Council on WomenYoung women in their junior or senior year in high school who hold at least a 2.5 GPA are invited to participate in the 2014 STEM Essay Contest, presented by the Virginia Council on Women in collaboration with the Science Museum of Virginia. The awardee will receive a $5,000 scholarship to an institution of higher education. Entries must be received by 9 p.m. on March 30, 2014. Governor’s Challenge in Economics and Personal Finance

Personal FinanceGet your students fired up about economics and personal finance through a live, online statewide competition!

How does the online challenge work? Teachers and high school students throughout Virginia may participate for free and without leaving school. Teams of up to four students may compete in one or two divisions: Personal Finance, and one of two Economics divisions. Each team member will have 35 minutes to complete a 30-question online exam with questions that align with Virginia’s economics and personal finance standards of learning. Registration is now open, and students can log in to compete anytime between March 3 and March 25 by 5 p.m. Learn more >>>
