Greetings, Albemarle County Public Schools educators: I am writing to share information about the results from the recent compensation survey that 60% of our teachers completed. I want to thank everyone for taking time to complete the survey. We value our teachers. You have a tremendous responsibility to educate and care for our young people, and you work hard. Additional Holiday Leave in 2017 for 12-Month Employees
Do your happy dance! Last Thursday, the Albemarle County School Board granted 12-month employees additional leave in alignment with the state’s holiday schedule: Offices now will be closed on Monday, July 3 (8 hours). Additionally, offices will close at noon on Wednesday, November 22 (4 hours), and again on Friday, December 22 (4 hours).

Additional Thanksgiving Holiday Leave for 12-Month Employees
At their meeting on November 10, the Albemarle County School Board granted 12-month employees an additional half-day of annual leave on Wednesday, November 23. In alignment with the state’s Thanksgiving holiday schedule, school division offices will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 23. Happy Thanksgiving!

UPDATE: Payroll Process Change
A message from Susan Worrell, Chief Accountant, County of Albemarle (Oct. 3, 2016)
The Finance Department partnered with Human Resources to propose changing the payroll process for the month of December, a process that was established many years ago in order to eliminate the need for school employees to interrupt their holiday break in order to pick up their paychecks. To accomplish this, a separate payroll for ACPS employees was processed and paychecks were issued before the holiday break. With the implementation of direct deposit, however, this practice is no longer necessary; employee pay is available and directly deposited on the last business day of every month! Continue reading
