Special Edition – June 13, 2014
What’s the BIG news?
The annual Open Enrollment period will begin this Sunday, June 15th! This year, ALL benefits-eligible employees must log-in to the Open Enrollment site, review your information, make any changes you want (if applicable), and then hit the CONFIRM button to save your visit—even if you are not currently enrolled in our medical/dental/Flexible Spending Account (FSA), do not wish to do so for next year, or are not planning on making any changes to your current benefits. The annual Open Enrollment period will begin June 15th. It will run June 15th through July 15th in order to provide you ample time to review changes to the plans and the employee premium rates that will become effective October 1st. Update on Classification Review of Teaching Assistants
As part of our Total Compensation Strategy, Human Resources conducts comprehensive classification reviews of all departments and/or work groups on an ongoing basis. Our objective is to ensure that all School Division and Local Government positions are correctly classified and that all employees are appropriately compensated for the work they perform. Over the last year, we have conducted classification reviews of a number of departments, to include Building Services and General Services. Currently, we are conducting a classification review of Teaching Assistant (and similarly classified) positions. Continue reading

Planning to Retire at the End of the School Year?
Reminder: Division employees wishing to retire under the Virginia Retirement System at the end of this school year should submit their VRS retirement materials to Human Resources by March 15 in order to avoid delays to your first VRS benefit payment. If you are thinking about retiring this year and have not yet contacted Human Resources for guidance, please email Claudine Cloutier at ccloutier@albemarle.org to learn more about the process, timelines, projected benefits, etc., or to set up an appointment.
