The mission of the Teacher Summer Reading Project is to diversity book lists and classroom shelves so that all ACPS students see themselves reflected in the literature available in our schools, and so that students continue to be exposed to multiple perspectives.

How to Participate: Select and read one of the books offered this summer. Once you sign up, the book will be delivered to you in the Pony. Sign-up by May 26. Learn more »

Our policies are locally developed through our work with the Virginia School Boards Association and they are tied to Virginia Code. Several are locally developed. James Patterson’s $1.75 Million Giveaway to Support Classroom Libraries – Enter by July 31

Scholastic Reading ClubThanks to the generosity of James Patterson, Scholastic Reading Club is excited to announce that teachers (PK-12) have a chance to win a $500 grant to help build their classroom libraries. The Board of Supervisors held public hearings on the Calendar Year 17 Tax Rate and the Board’s Proposed FY 18 Budget on Tuesday evening, April 11. Immediately following the conclusion of those public hearings, it came to the County’s attention that there was a defect in the posted notice regarding the public hearing on the Calendar Year 17 Tax Rate. New Directory: Who’s Who at the Central Office

COB McIntireThe Central Office has launched a Who’s Who Directory to aid internal staff in determining whom to contact for what. The directory currently includes 80+ staff members from school division departments. It is searchable and sortable (by employee, department, and job title). The directory includes a picture of each employee, along with a brief description of what each employee does and why you might contact him/her. We hope you find this a helpful resource!

Teacher Compensation Survey: Results & Next Steps

Survey ResultsGreetings, Albemarle County Public Schools educators: I am writing to share information about the results from the recent compensation survey that 60% of our teachers completed. I want to thank everyone for taking time to complete the survey. We value our teachers. You have a tremendous responsibility to educate and care for our young people, and you work hard.
