Important Update on Workers’ Compensation Claims Processing

Workplace injury sign

Since mid-June, our workers’ compensation insurance company, UnitedHeartland, has been dealing with a cybersecurity incident. To manage this, they have shut down their business systems, which likely will remain offline through early August. The outage affects the processing and communication timelines for workers’ compensation claims.

UnitedHeartland has conducted an extensive investigation with forensic and IT experts and confirmed that no customer data was accessed or taken during the security breach.

Despite these challenges, your workers’ compensation claims and care will continue. Please follow these steps to ensure you receive the necessary assistance if you experience a work-related injury:

Key Points to Remember:

  1. TeleCompCare Services: Continue to use the TeleCompCare 24/7/365 nurse triage telemedicine service for immediate injury assessment and care recommendations. This service remains fully operational.
  2. Reporting Delays: There may be delays in Human Resources (HR) receiving information from TeleCompCare due to the system outage. Please report your injuries directly to the HR Safety and Wellness Department at workerscomp@k12albemarle.org.
  3. Immediate Injury Reporting: Report any work-related injuries to your supervisor and the HR Safety and Wellness Department immediately. This ensures your injury is documented and appropriate care is provided.

Your safety and well-being are our top priorities. We are committed to providing you with the necessary resources and support during this time. If you have any questions or need assistance with reporting an injury, please contact us directly. For more information on workers’ compensation procedures, please visit our Workers’ Compensation site.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we navigate this temporary outage. We appreciate your diligence in reporting injuries and utilizing the available resources to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. We will provide updates on the system status as they become available.
