You’re Invited: “Honoring Our Veterans” Ceremony – Nov. 11

Veterans Day 2015Next Wednesday, November 11, 2015, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and School Board will recognize those employees who have served our country in the armed forces during a brief ceremony at 4:45 p.m. at the County Office Building on McIntire Road. (This is a change from the previously scheduled time.)

The ceremony will include the reading of a joint resolution as well as student performances. All employees and their families are invited to attend. Continue reading

Honoring Our Veterans This November 11

Veterans Day 2015Albemarle County Public Schools and Local Government are fortunate to have many veterans who continue to serve our country through their work in government offices and public schools. On November 11, 2015, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and School Board will recognize those employees who have served our country in the armed forces through a joint resolution.

School Performance Report Card Survey

VDOE LogoThe Virginia Department of Education is asking parents and other members of the public to complete a 16-item online survey on improving annual School Performance Report Cards for schools, school divisions, and the commonwealth. Tell Us What You ThinkYou are invited to review the proposed new classified employee competencies and offer your feedback through a short survey. Please respond by Wednesday, May 13.

The competency review group has been receiving classified employee feedback since March through meetings, focus groups, and a survey. As we sought to organize the many comments and suggestions, we remained focused on our primary goals: to ensure alignment with the mission, vision and values of both divisions, and to create a new, streamlined set of competencies that makes it easier for classified employees to answer the “how do they relate to my actual job?” question. Approval Process for Research Requests From Outside Agencies

Student SurveyAlbemarle County Public Schools receives requests from outside agencies/individuals to conduct research in the schools. If an ACPS employee receives a request from an outside agency, including UVA, the employee must forward that request to a supervisor (principal, for example). These requests must be forwarded to Chris Gilman, Coordinator of Research and Program Evaluation, as a detailed proposal indicating the purpose of the study and how the results may be used.
