Happy Thanksgiving! Yesterday evening, the Albemarle County School Board granted 12-month employees an additional half-day of annual leave on Wednesday, November 25. In alignment with the state’s Thanksgiving holiday schedule, school division offices will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 25.

Early Retirement (VERIP) Applications Due Dec. 1
Thinking about retiring? VERIP (early retirement) applications are due December 1! If you are considering retirement during the next fiscal year (July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017) and you will be under age 65, you may be eligible for an additional benefit under the County’s Voluntary Early Retirement Incentive Program (VERIP). Note: Ten-month School Division employees who wish to retire at the end of the school year will have a retirement date of July 1, 2016.

Reminder: Classified Employee Salary Increases Will Be Implemented October 1
Why not July as usual?
Due to constrained budget resources, there weren’t sufficient funds to support meaningful, full-year increases in keeping with our market strategy. Delaying the timing of the increase saves the organization money, but also keeps us in line with our compensation market strategy and yields a higher base salary for VRS. Continue reading
