We are excited to announce the start of our annual We Notice program! This is an opportunity to recognize a colleague whose work you would like to celebrate. This recognition can be given to any employee who works in our schools, such as teachers, office staff, building service team members, teaching assistants, cafeteria workers, school nurses, and bus drivers.

January 25 Is a Workday for All Employees

As a reminder, Tuesday, January 25, is a workday for all employees, even though students will not be in attendance. The January 25 workday is one of the changes to the 2021-22 School Year Calendar approved by the school board at their meeting on November 11. On this day, staff will attend professional development and training. Please see your supervisor for more information.

Half-Day of Leave Granted to All 12-Month Employees on Nov. 24

Happy Thanksgiving! Following Governor Northam’s announcement that November 24 will be a half-day for state employees, the Albemarle County School Board has granted the same for ACPS employees. Now, in addition to closing for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26, the board has approved a half-day of leave on Wednesday, November 24, for all 12-month employees. All school division offices will close for the Thanksgiving holiday at 12 noon on November 24.

Stage 3 Details: Survey, Informational Video & Draft Slides

Dear Colleagues,

At their upcoming meeting on October 8, the Albemarle County School Board will decide whether the school division will progress to the next stage of reopening (from Stage 2 to Stage 3). The school division will remain in its current stage (Stage 2) through at least the end of the first quarter. The Board’s decision will impact the second quarter of the school year, which begins on November 9. Continue reading →

Don’t Forget to Complete the Required COVID-19 Safety Training by Sept. 8!

In compliance with state code and in partnership with the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) Program, ACPS has developed a two-part COVID-19 Safety Training for employees. As a reminder, every ACPS employee, regardless of position, should complete this training by Tuesday, September 8 (the first day of school).

Step 1 involves watching a 22-minute training video. Step 2 (the final step) asks employees to certify that they have watched the training video by completing a brief form. Continue reading →

Required COVID-19 Safety Training – Complete by Sept. 8

In compliance with State Code §16VAC25-60-220, Emergency Temporary Standard for COVID-19 Infectious Disease Prevention, Albemarle County Public Schools is requiring ALL STAFF to complete COVID-19 Employee Safety Training. As we continue the Return to School plan, it is important that all employees are aware of how to stay safe at school and work. Employees should complete Steps 1 and 2 by Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

Reminder: January 21 Is a Flex Day

As a reminder, Monday, January 20, is a holiday, and Tuesday, January 21, is a flex day. Flex days are designated for teachers to work on report cards, plan for instruction, and complete other tasks related to their work. On flex days, teachers may perform their work at school or another location, as their responsibilities permit.

School-based office associates and other school staff scheduled to work also may use January 21 as a flex day, if their responsibilities permit and with the pre-approval of their principal. Continue reading →
