We Notice

Our annual We Notice recognition program is accepting nominations through Tuesday, February 20! We Notice provides an opportunity for you to recognize a colleague whose work you would like to celebrate. This recognition can be given to any ACPS employee, such as teachers, teaching assistants, office staff, Building Services team members, cafeteria workers, school nurses, and bus drivers.

ACPS is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year for Novice Teacher Instructional Coach and Instructional Coach positions. Internal and external candidates (including former ACPS instructional coaches) are welcome to apply for one or both positions. Instructional coaching experience is preferred for the Novice Teacher Instructional Coach position, and a micro-credential or certification in culturally responsive teaching is preferred for both positions. Rosetta Stone for Educators

The spring semester of Rosetta Stone is now open for enrollment for any interested ACPS staff! This online language course allows participants to participate independently and at their own pace. Most educators choose to learn Spanish, but other languages are available in the program. Click here to register through the Professional Learning Management System (PLMS).

Welcome to the third edition of ACPS TechKnow, a monthly newsletter to keep staff, families and students in the know about technology in ACPS! In this edition, we’re sharing helpful PowerTeacher and PowerTeacher Pro tips.

As we close out the first semester, see our PowerTeacher Tips for Staff for guidance on running reports, creating email lists, and navigating specific screens in PowerTeacher and the PowerTeacher Pro gradebook. We encourage all teachers to use PowerTeacher to access student information to aid in day-to-day tasks. There are reports that provide family contact information, demographic data, EL status, and more!

Default Hours for Leave Requests in Kronos

Time and Attendance Management

Human Resources has been working to correct an issue in Kronos that allowed employees to request leave but did not require input of hours that would subtract time from the employee’s accrued leave balance. To prevent this from happening in the future, we recently applied a fix in Kronos. Beginning Monday, January 29, 2024 (the first day of the second semester), employees who are classified as exempt will see a default number of hours populate in the “Daily Amount” column or “Length” section of the leave request for each day of leave requested: Continue reading
