February is Black History MonthEvery February, America and Virginia observe Black History Month, celebrating and honoring the many achievements and contributions made by African Americans to the economic, cultural and political development of America. The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to provide teachers and school divisions with Black History Month resources that support the History and Social Science Standards of Learning.

Don’t Forget: Transition Your Google Apps Data by Jan. 15!

Transition Data by January 15, 2016!As you know, DART staff has consolidated our two Google domains into one. Students and staff using the student domain were asked to transition data and functionality from the student domain to the primary ACPS domain. The deadline for this data transition is January 15, 2016. After January 15, the @student.k12albemarle.org domain will be decommissioned and all data within that domain will be deleted. VDOE-Sponsored Intel Elements Professional Development

VDOE LogoThe Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) provides six-week, facilitated online courses through a grant with Intel. These professional development courses are available to educators in Virginia at no cost. The courses are conducted all online (no face-to-face meetings needed) and take approximately 30 hours, or 5 hours per week, to complete. The courses are facilitated by Virginia educators. Participants will receive a certificate at the end that can be used towards 30 recertification points. Registration for the Winter 2016 session (January 20 – March 2) ends January 6, 2016.
