Don’t Forget to Complete the Required COVID-19 Safety Training by Sept. 8!

In compliance with state code and in partnership with the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) Program, ACPS has developed a two-part COVID-19 Safety Training for employees. As a reminder, every ACPS employee, regardless of position, should complete this training by Tuesday, September 8 (the first day of school).

Step 1 involves watching a 22-minute training video. Step 2 (the final step) asks employees to certify that they have watched the training video by completing a brief form. Continue reading

Required COVID-19 Safety Training – Complete by Sept. 8

In compliance with State Code §16VAC25-60-220, Emergency Temporary Standard for COVID-19 Infectious Disease Prevention, Albemarle County Public Schools is requiring ALL STAFF to complete COVID-19 Employee Safety Training. As we continue the Return to School plan, it is important that all employees are aware of how to stay safe at school and work. Employees should complete Steps 1 and 2 by Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

Reminder: January 21 Is a Flex Day

Working from Home

As a reminder, Monday, January 20, is a holiday, and Tuesday, January 21, is a flex day. Flex days are designated for teachers to work on report cards, plan for instruction, and complete other tasks related to their work. On flex days, teachers may perform their work at school or another location, as their responsibilities permit.

School-based office associates and other school staff scheduled to work also may use January 21 as a flex day, if their responsibilities permit and with the pre-approval of their principal. Continue reading

The Bama Works Fund, a grant created by the Dave Matthews Band to support community initiatives in the Charlottesville-Albemarle area, is currently accepting applications. There are two deadlines: February 1 (decision in mid-June) and August 1 (decision in mid-December). The award can be up to $10,000, which could help make your educational ideas a reality!

The National Education Association (NEA) Foundation offers multiple grant opportunities for educators, including Student Success Grants and Learning & Leadership Grants. Three grant deadlines are established annually: February 1, June 1, and October 15. Two levels of funding are available: $2,000 and $5,000. Continue reading

Additional Thanksgiving Holiday Leave for 12-Month Employees

Happy Thanksgiving

In concert with declarations by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, the School Board has approved providing a four-hour holiday for employees scheduled to work on Wednesday, November 27. As such, the County Office Building and all school facilities will close four hours early on November 27. This day was already scheduled as a non-student day as part of the Thanksgiving break.

We wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, and extend our thanks and gratitude for what you do each day for our students.
