In response to feedback from multiple stakeholders, including Teacher Advisory, Parent Council, Strategic Cabinet, and Planning Cabinet, along with 971 survey responses from students, parents, employees, and community members, a third draft of the 2017-18 School Year Calendar has been developed. Analyzing Student Work: Using Peer Feedback to Improve Instruction
The Professional Learning Community (PLC) model is intended to use student information—formative and summative assessments—to analyze and figure out with peers what support is needed by individual students to address learning gaps before they grow too large. This Edutopia video captures a PLC’s focus on analysis of student work samples and peer feedback. While it’s an elementary PLC, the model applies to all levels.

Web Sites & Content Filtering
This school year we have made a transition to a new content filter. Please know that we are required by the federal government to filter certain types of Internet sites: most notably sites considered to be obscene, sites that contain pornography, and any sites deemed harmful to minors. Each of the terms mentioned are legal items and are defined via case law. Our new content filter, as do all filtering solutions, places web sites into categories and the school division determines which categories to block or not to block. Continue reading
