You Could Receive Up to $5,000: Apply for a Shannon Grant by April 19!

The Shannon Foundation wants to help teachers and schools implement their best ideas. Two levels of proposals are invited for the 2019-20 school year:

  • Level 1 grants, not to exceed $750, will be awarded to classroom teachers, individually or in teams, for projects that support original and innovative student activities.
  • Level 2 grants, not to exceed $5,000, may be awarded to schools for creative projects that enhance student learning across age and grade levels.

Teacher Transfer Requests

Teacher Transfer Requests are now open to all tenured teachers desiring consideration for new assignments for the 2019-2020 school year. Teachers who are on a Performance Improvement Plan or who will be on an active improvement plan for the upcoming school year are not eligible to apply for a transfer. All other teachers are welcome to apply for jobs online as vacancies become available. Continue reading

Albemarle County Public Schools maintains over 600 policies. Our policies are locally developed through our work with the Virginia School Boards Association and they are tied to Virginia Code. Several are locally developed. Our policies translate our core values of excellence, young people, community, and respect into the backbone of our daily operations and aspirations for students.

5th Annual Albemarle County Coat Drive: There’s Still Time to Contribute!

5th Annual Albemarle County Coat Drive

Albemarle County’s last four coat drives have resulted in more than 2,200 coats, jackets, and assorted winter clothing items going to community members in need. This year’s drive opened in November and will continue accepting donations through the end of February. As of last week, we were only 57 coats short of 2,500 donations in five years! Second Semester PD Offerings

As second semester gets underway, professional opportunities have been updated on the ACPS Professional Development site.

Highlights of the winter/spring offerings include Responsive Classroom sessions on Morning Meeting and Self Discipline; a variety of sessions in the “Design, Making, and Engineering” series; the new “Managing Your Digital World as an Educator” series; Google Certification; and CPR certification.
