Special Offer from UVA Athletics: Free Tickets to Home Baseball Game This Saturday!

UVA Athletics has a special offer for ACPS students, faculty, staff, administrators, and their families: four free tickets to attend the Virginia Cavaliers vs. Pittsburgh Panthers baseball game this Saturday, April 15, at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park! First pitch is at 6 p.m.!

Complimentary tickets, up to four per household, are available on a first come, first served basis. (Additional tickets may be purchased for $7 each in general admission seating.) Click here to get tickets.

We Notice 2023: Nominate a Colleague by March 31!

We are excited to announce the start of our annual We Notice recognition program! We Notice provides an opportunity for you to recognize a colleague whose work you would like to celebrate. This recognition can be given to any ACPS employee, such as teachers, teaching assistants, office staff, Building Services team members, cafeteria workers, school nurses, and bus drivers.

Join Us on Feb. 25 for the 9th Annual WinterSongs Concert!

Mark your calendar and prepare to join us at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, for the ninth annual WinterSongs benefit concert! The concert, which raises money for the Shelter for Help in Emergency, will bring together eight women’s choruses from schools in Albemarle and Louisa counties as well as Charlottesville City for a stirring program that culminates with 200 vocalists on stage for the finale. Since its debut in 2015, WinterSongs has raised more than $30,000 to assist local women in crisis. Continue reading

Celebrate Computer Science Week this December 5-11 by participating in Hour of Code! Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code” to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with one-hour coding activities, but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Public Invited to Visit Rotunda Planetarium on Nov. 25 & 26

The Rotunda Planetarium at the University of Virginia will be open to the public, free of charge, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26. The Office of the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer has extended a special invitation to all ACPS staff and their families to come view the night sky Thomas Jefferson envisioned for the Rotunda’s Dome Room and enjoy a hot beverage and holiday treat. CATEC Culinary Arts has extended the deadline to order desserts for their Thanksgiving fundraiser to Friday, November 18. We know this is a busy time of year, so let our culinary students take care of one of the items on your Thanksgiving table! We are selling four dessert options this year: chocolate pecan pie, pumpkin pie, Dutch apple pie, and pumpkin bread. Your orders support our culinary arts program, and for that, we are very thankful!
