As shared in a May 13 Compass post, the Albemarle County School Board approved a budget for the 2022-23 school year that includes a 6% compensation increase for all employees and a step increase for employees on the teacher pay scale. The adopted budget for fiscal year 2023 takes effect on Friday, July 1.

For 12-month employees, the increase will appear beginning with the July 8 paycheck. Ten- and 11-month employees will see the increase as described in our June 9 Compass post. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Human Resources at HR@k12albemarle.org with any questions.

As we move into the 2022-23 school year, we will be implementing Meet and Confer, a model that encourages employee voice in decision-making. We are currently in the planning process and are creating a steering team that will assist in planning and creating processes related to Meet and Confer. Our intention is to form a diverse steering team representative of both teachers and classified employees.

Teachers: If you are interested in serving on the steering team, please complete the Interest Form by Friday, June 17. (We will seek representatives of classified employees separately through each department.) Continue reading

Special Message from the Superintendent: Employee Engagement Survey Extended Through May 12

Superintendent Matthew Haas

When I became Superintendent of Schools in 2018, my first order of business was a Listening Tour. I met with hundreds of employees and students across our division to understand how I could best support you in your work, not just in providing resources, but in helping to create a climate that allowed you to prosper and grow as a professional.

If you read my Weekly Check-in on Friday, you know that one of the most important parts of my week, every week, are my visits to one of our schools or departments. These visits are today’s Listening Tours, providing me with the chance to learn from many of you about how the school division can support you and, especially, how I can support you in the important work you are doing.
