Updated COVID-19 Leave Programs

You may remember the leave programs we rolled out last spring 2020 under legislation known as the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). This mandated two kinds of leave: Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) and Emergency Expanded FMLA (EEFMLA). While the mandated leave programs under the FFCRA expired on December 31, 2020, and were voluntarily extended through March 31, 2021, Albemarle County Government and Albemarle County Public Schools are again voluntarily extending and expanding these programs effective April 1 through September 30, 2021, pursuant to the recently signed American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

We previously announced that we temporarily disabled the conversion of annual leave at or above 320 hours that normally occurs at the end of an employee’s birth month through February 28, 2021. In recognition that 12-month employees may not be able to take time off for the immediate foreseeable future, we will be extending this suspension through December 31, 2021. Continue reading

Today’s the day—your last day to add/drop/change a medical/dental plan or add/drop dependents for the 2021 calendar year, AND your last chance to enroll in a medical or dependent care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), as these do not roll over from year to year.

As you have heard, the annual Open Enrollment window is now open (November 1-13)! It is imperative that employees are accessing information through the new Inside Albemarle – Human Resources site. 

The new Human Resources site can be accessed on your ACPS laptop. The site requires that you use your ACPS Microsoft Office 365 account, something every ACPS staff member already has. Dear Colleagues:

Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) recognizes that your child care needs may change as the division moves to Stage 3 of our Return to School plan on November 9. We are happy to announce that ACPS will continue to offer the Staff Child Care Program (SCCP) in the second quarter of the school year at three locations:

  • Henley Middle School (Brownsville Elementary Program relocating to this site)
  • Sutherland Middle School (Hollymead Elementary Program relocating to this site)
  • Monticello High School

The SCCP will operate each school day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Continue reading

Flu Vaccinations Are More Important Than Ever During the COVID-19 Pandemic!

CDC Fight Flu: Mask up, Lather up, Sleeve up

All Albemarle County employees (including part-time, temporary, substitutes, interns, and student teachers) and all public safety volunteers (Fire Rescue, Police, Sheriff’s Office) are eligible to receive flu and other vaccinations with no out-of-pocket cost, even if you are not covered on the County health plan. On-site flu clinics start this Thursday, October 8, and continue throughout the month. Check out the clinic schedule and schedule your appointment today!
