COVID-19 Testing Available to All Employees

COVID-19 Nasal Swab Test

Any school division employee can arrange to be tested for COVID-19 as the result of an opportunity made available by the county’s infection control team. PCR tests via throat or nasal swab are being offered, at no cost, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. Testing is being conducted at Jessup House, located at 614 East High Street in Charlottesville, and, in most instances, results will be available within 48 hours. Important Information About the Unemployment Compensation Application Process: Possible Fraud

The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) notifies our Human Resources Department whenever it receives an unemployment compensation claim from a former Albemarle County Public Schools employee. Our department recently received several notifications of claims for current employees that include personal information that, after an initial investigation, we believe in some cases to be fraudulent. The individuals have been directly notified by Human Resources and provided instructions for next steps.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update: VAMS Registration & Immunization Intention Form

The CDC has dispatched emails to all ACPS regular full-time and part-time employees from the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS). The email, entitled, “Please register in VAMS to schedule an appointment,” is marked [EXTERNAL] because it comes from a sender outside of the k12albemarle network. Rest assured: This email is not spam; it is a legitimate email.

Within the email message from the CDC’s Vaccine Administration Management System, you will find a link to schedule an appointment for your COVID-19 vaccination. (Note: Substitutes, coaches, and other temporary employees will receive the same information by early next week.) Continue reading

PowerSchool Update Scheduled for Jan. 16-17

The Department of Technology will be installing a newer version of PowerSchool during the January 16/17 weekend maintenance window. PowerSchool will be unavailable for periods of time during this normal Saturday night/Sunday morning maintenance time. This update has some significant changes to the PowerSchool user interface. We have held off on making changes to PowerSchool, as we know that the last nine months have been disruptive enough; however, in order to maintain a supported version of PowerSchool and provide some new features that we hope will be beneficial in our current environment, it is necessary to move forward with an update. Like many of you, I have become increasingly concerned about recent increases in the case incidence rate and the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in our county as reported by our health department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
